Window Spot Competition Winners

Monday, 21st August, 2006 at 12:01 am, Isle of Wight

All week you will have seen people peering into shop windows in Ventnor, chewing the ends of their pencils and slowly scratching their heads. We spent far too long doing the same ourselves, as we tried to work out which of the items displayed were not normally sold in that particular shop.

ventnor carnival 2006 window spot competitionIt was, of course, that time of year again …. Window Spot Competition!

Having been through the agony of trying to work out what the special items were, it’s now even more excruciating to have the correct answers and see how pesky our shop owners were with their choices.

We spent forever staring in the window of Slade Electrical, and discover now that it was a single match hiding amongst all the electrical items we should’ve spotted. Scoop Value had a screw hook on a chain! Did you spot the Red Wine Vinegar in The Local (what rotters)? And what about Chiverton Fishing Tackle sneeking in the sweetpea seedpod!

Anyway, now knowing that we got about half of them wrong, let’s take our hats off to the winners below. They are ….

First - Eleanor Rutherford - Age 9, Ventnor

Second - Charlie and Katie Weldon - Age 5 and 10, Steephill

Third - Joshua Cronnelly - Age 13, Niton

If you want to see which ones you got right, follow that link or click on the image above.

  1. Mark Says:

I think the comp this year was better than any previous year and well done to the winners!

What amused me was that one person who shall remain nameless took the Buckingham Palace for Rent sign seriously and started telling people about it, then others believed him as well!

On well, this is Ventnor after all!
