Wightlink Lymington Port To Be Moved?
Thursday, 17th April, 2008 at 2:16 pm, Isle of Wight
Reports in the Daily Echo today might interest Islanders who use the Lymington - Yarmouth route for crossing the Solent.
They claim that the port on Lymington port may be entirely relocated to a stretch of coastline at nearby Pennington Marshes.
Wightlink chief executive Andrew Willson urged caution but told the Daily Echo a study would be undertaken to see if the move was a viable option.
He said: “We are aware of the proposals and we would not wish to dismiss it without proper consideration. There is clearly merit in operating there from the perspective of the shortness of the crossing to the Isle of Wight.”

This is presumably some sort of cunning diversionary tactic as Pennington Marshes is a nature reserve of some importance. I suppose the Yachties are still whining about the bigger ferries now taking shape in Croatia.

I agree, and also I have heard many times the Lymington to Brockenhurst train line wouldn’t be viable without the ferry port
