The Wight Zombie walk on Saturday night was brilliant fun - not just in the staggering around in a moaning way, but in the fun of picking what to wear and making-up to look … undead.

After parking the car (and wishing on the way there that the Island had traffic jams every now and then, so we could have shocked those sitting in their cars along side us), we quickly got into character, dragging our feet along and stumbling occasionally, up the road toward to meeting place near Somerfield.

We bumped into two more of the undead, who had done a way more detailed job than us of gathering gear and looking the part.

As we moaned and dragged ourselves further up the street, we were met with an empty square - well you can’t expect zombies to be on time can you?

Soon a further group of around 15 people rounded the corner resplendent in pale make-up and dripping with blood.

While we staggered around admiring each others get-ups, there were occasional ‘normals’ walking near by, causing a mixture of confusion; jollity and mild concern.

Sensing the availability for fresh human brains, the assembled throng started to drag/moan/stagger down towards Union Street - but frankly it’s a rather slow process.

Here’s a sample of what it sounded like.

Before you make any rude comments - yes, you could easily tell the difference between the undead and the rest of the residents of Ryde.

The people of Ryde were generally pretty good humoured about it, entering into the spirit of it, with only one or two looking a little freaked out.

The first place of refreshment was the Wetherspoon’s where the collected Zombies piled into the bar in an attempt to become slightly less undead.
