White Air: Sam’s Report: Part One

White Air: Sam's Report: Part OneWe’re really chuffed to have local lad, Sam Snudden, sharing his perspective of White Air with the readers of VentnorBlog. He is taking part in several displays over the week, one of which we caught yesterday.

He performs with a large group of enthusiastic and obviously very talented gymnasts (some pictured here). It’s an inspiring display and well worth catching. They perform at 11.30 or 3pm today and tomorrow. Here’s what he had to say ….

I am a performer with the extreme gymnastics team, and this is our first year doing demonstrations at White Air.

The venue and line up for the week is quite clearly larger and more diverse than ever before, and possibly the best addition is the platform one band stand; for me live music never fails to impress, and it is brilliant to see local up and coming bands showcase their talent.

Our first demonstration of the week was this morning, quite thankfully before most of the people seemed to arrive, as I think we all felt a little rusty after not performing with each other since the summer holidays began.

Yet saying that, the fairly small crowd we drew in the morning seemed far more enthusiastic and vocal than the larger crowd in the afternoon, and it has to be said, it’s always nice to hear that a crowd appreciates what you are doing!

The rest of my day was spent predominantly at the parkour area and mountain board park; the mountain board park being one of my favourite places to be watching rather than doing, as the height these guys get over the box is scary to say the least, and enthrawling to watch.

The try-it-yourself parkour workshop is brilliant for anyone interested in this new sport, and the guys running it are very good at what they do. Very friendly and more importantly, are excellent at teaching the basics to the groups, safely and in a way that is really good fun for just about any ability!

Hopefully the rest of the week will be just as good as today.

Sam
