Weston Manor Public Meeting

Tuesday, 4th March, 2008 at 4:30 pm, Isle of Wight

10, March 2008
7:30 pm

Cancelled due to bad weather conditions.

Those who have been following the saga of Weston Manor and The Real World Trust’s attempt to convert the wonderful Grade II listed building into a drink and drug rehabilitation centre, may be interested in a meeting being held next Monday night.

Weston ManorNow that the Real World Trust have dropped their plans to convert the manor, suggestions for others uses for the site are being canvassed by the Totland Parish Council.

Local residents have been extremely concerned with goings-on over in West Wight, not just the actual work that has been taking place inside Weston Manor, but also relating to trustees of the board and certain councillors non-declaration of interest.

Back in January, we popped over to Totland to get the background on residents’ concerns and hope to bring you more details soon.

Totland Parish Council are inviting members of the public attend a meeting at The Church Hall, The Broadway, Totland to discuss the future of the Manor House.

I have seen the excellent work the Real World Trust have done in repairing and restoring the Manor. Far from putting it in danger they were saving it! Those receiving treatment would have been closely monitored. They would have worked in the grounds re-creating the gardens and managing the woodland as part of their therapy. They would have also run a furniture restoration service for needy islanders. Grants for the work at the Manor have now been lost thanks to opposition.
Those opposing this facility need to be aware that all sorts of people get addicted to alchol and drugs - including small-minded Daily Mail reading curtain twitchers!
The Manor will now be sold to the highest bidder and it will be lost to the community.
    Well done!!
