Ventnor Film Society presents Vera Drake (directed by Mike Leigh and starring Imelda Staunton) at the Botanic Gardens Visitors’ Centre on 18 October 2005.

Staunton and Leigh can both claim this tale of good neighbour, devoted mother and secret abortionist Vera Drake as a masterwork. ‘A fully formed modern tragedy with a towering central performance.’ Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian.

Starts at 7.30pm and you can get drinks in the Cricket Club next door before and afterwards.

Minibus services runs between town and the Botanic Gardens.
