VentnorBlog: “showing how high-quality hyperlocal reporting is done”

We’ve been flattered to receive many compliments of late for our coverage of Island news, both from Islanders and at a national level – giving us a warm glow.

We were really proud that journalists who were down on the Island covering the Vestas sit-in for the national papers told us that they had been using VentnorBlog to follow the story in their news rooms.

Trade publication Journalism.co.uk even wrote a piece in their editors section about VB’s coverage, comparing it against that of The Guardian and the County Press. They concluded the article with

The coverage is bitty (as you might expect as a story unfolds) and not necessarily completely balanced (most updates focus on the workers’ perspective), but the VentnorBlog has done an excellent job of providing the islanders (and outsiders) with raw and useful material, showing us how high-quality hyperlocal reporting is done.

Yikes! How good did we feel?

Thorough reporting of important Island issues is what we’re all about, so to have it recognised by such a well-regarded trade publication warmed the cockles of our collective hearts.
