Ventnor Town Council Rejects Mill Bay

Sunday, 27th May, 2007 at 2:39 pm, Isle of Wight

Did you know that Ventnor Town Council rejected the Conservation Area Consent to knock down and redevelop The Mill Bay Inn, The Esplanade on 14 May?

They stated that

the proposed redevelopment of this site is out of keeping with the conservation area being an over-development of the site; from the areas above the site the views will be obstructed and the terraced aspect of the landscape will be lost and the proposed vehicular access will create a traffic hazard.

Apologies for absence were received from Councillors J.S.Fitzgerald-Bond and C.D.Mortimer.

Planning, Ventnor

Bit off topic, Johnny, but worth mentioning if only for proof of how nature has an uncanny knack of putting the dogmatic, arrogant, pseudo scientific community in its place.
My original point was just because the TC are agin it, don’t mean the IOW won’t approve it.

Esplanade House will need to keep their sign for the foreseeable future and we’ll all have to keep our eyes open: Even if IOW turn them down they’ll probably try again every couple of months.
