Ventnor Skate Park Closure: Still No Breakdown of £60k Quote

Friday, 18th April, 2008 at 1:05 pm, Isle of Wight

Future of Ventnor Skate Park: Meeting TonightIt was on Wednesday afternoon that we were promised a breakdown of the £60,000 figure that IW Council had stated to Ventnor Town Council would be needed to complete and maintain the Ventnor Skate Park.

The Press Office promised us ‘chapter and verse’ by mid morning the following day and when we wrote back asking what time we could expect the breakdown (surely a simple cut and past from a spread sheet?) we were told …

Will endeavour to get it to you as quickly as possible

That was two days ago and still no sign of the breakdown.

We have written to the Communications Department stating that if, by Monday morning, we have not received the breakdown they promised, we can only conclude that there NEVER was a breakdown of the figure.

Let’s wait and see what happens now.

You’re giving them the weekend to put together a breakdown - that’s generous of you ;-)

I wonder if the figure has got anything to do with the 68K price tag for the Sandown skate park development? maybe IWC looked at that and thought “ah, that’s how much it’ll cost to do Ventnor skate park then” seems a bit of a coinsidence don’t you think?

Any news on the breakdown yet Sal? Or do we have to reach the conclusion you make above, that there was never any breakdown and £60,000 price tag was a figure plucked out of the air?

Sadly Michael we still haven’t heard back from the Press Office. It has now been 6 days since we were promised ‘chapter and verse’. Given the current evidence, it’s hard to reach any other conclusion that that which you refer to.
