Ventbag: Ventnor Plastic Carrier Bag Free By Sept 2008

Tuesday, 4th December, 2007 at 5:53 pm, Isle of Wight

Many thanks to Ventnor 2007 for posting the following information up on the forum today.

Ventnor Plastic Carrier Bag FreeFollowing the meeting last Sunday at the Community Projects in Ventnor, A project team called Ventbag has been formed to enable Ventnor to become plastic carrier bag free by 1 September 2008.

The idea will be introduced for agreement into the five year plan for Ventnor, Bonchurch and St Lawrence through consultation with the general public on 5 February 2008, in the Environment and Island Plan focus group on that date.

It has come into being, as a result of observing the success of the towns that have followed Modbury in Devon, where the genesis for this thinking emerged Idea

We need more volunteers to help, please.

Next group meeting is 2.00 pm Sunday 9 December in Ventnor Community Projects, Albert Street. As before please come along if you would like to get involved.

  1. A great project - less litter, less plastic, more recycling, more advertising for community projects, more individuality!
