Ventnor Paddling Pool Open For The Summer

Friday, 22nd February, 2008 at 10:41 am, Isle of Wight

THE CHILDREN’S paddling pool at Ventnor is set to be open this summer from July 1 - thanks to rescheduling of building works by Isle of Wight Council.

The council is scheduled to rebuild toilets next to the pool and they would be close enough to cause a risk to users if the pool was still in use.

However, council managers have delayed some of the work until autumn - thus ensuring that the pool can be enjoyed during the summer months.

Isle of Wight Council cabinet member for environment and transport Councillor Tim Hunter Henderson said: “We expected that the works to the toilets would unfortunately lead to the closure of the pool this summer.

“Safety is our top concern so we could not take the risk of keeping the pool open with the building site so very near.

“However, we have been very pleased to organise the building timetable in such a way that the contractors will be able to allow the use of the pool during the main summer period, which was our objective. Other minor works such as surfacing and planting can then be completed during the autumn and winter when the pool is no longer in use.”

From the Council, Ventnor
