Ventnor Music For Fun : Closing Date Sunday

There is still time to enter the Ventnor Music For Fun festival if you haven’t already.
Closing date is Sunday 30th September and there’s always plenty of room for everyone to enter.
If you are musically inclined, take a look at the classes of entry below. You will be judged by experienced associated board examiner and choral conductor, Christopher Brown.
There’s loads to choose from. Follow the link at the bottom of the page for the application form and your chance to take part in the festival, which will be held in St Catherine’s Church, Ventnor over 8/9/10 November this year.
1. Novice Class for Piano/Keyboard: under 1yr tuition, not exceeding 3 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
2. Piano Solo: any age, own choice, pre 1900, not exceeding 6 mins
A) grades 1-2; B) grades 3-4; C) grades 5-6; D) grades 7-8
3. Piano Solo: any age, own choice, post 1900, not exceeding 6 mins
A) grades 1-2; B) grades 3-4; C) grades 5-6; D) grades 7-8
4. Recital Class: grades 5-7, any instrumental or piano solo, 2/3 contrasting pieces, own choice, not exceeding 10 mins
5. Recital Class: minimum grade 8, any instrumental or piano solo, 3 contrasting pieces, own choice, not exceeding 15 mins
6. Novice Instrumental Solo: under 1yr tuition, not exceeding 3 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
7. Woodwind Solo: any age, own choice, not exceeding 6 mins
A) grades 1-2; B) grades 3-4; C) grades 5-6; D) grades 7-8
8. Instrumental and/or Vocal Ensemble: not more than one performer to a part, own choice, not exceeding 7 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
9. Instrumental Group: 2 or more performers to a part, not exceeding 7 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
10. Music Making: 3 or more performers, any style, any age, vocal/instrumental, not exceeding 7 mins
11. Piano Duet/Trio: own choice, 5 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
12. Percussion Solo: any age, own choice, not exceeding 5 mins
13. Brass Solo: own choice, not exceeding 6 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
14) String Solo, including guitar: over 1yr tuition, own choice, not exceeding 6 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
VOCAL CLASSES
15) Vocal Solo: own choice, not exceeding 5 mins.
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
16) Vocal Recital: under 18, 2/3 contrasting pieces, own choice, not exceeding 10 mins
17) Vocal Recital: over 18, 3 contrasting pieces, own choice, not exceeding 15 mins
18) Vocal Ensemble: 2 or more voices, 1 voice per part, 2 contrasting pieces, not exceeding 10 mins
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age; D) Adult
19) School Choir: own choice, 2 contrasting pieces, not exceeding 7 mins.
A) Primary School age; B) Middle School age; C) High School age
20) Mixed Choir/Group: any age, 2 contrasting pieces, not exceeding 7 mins
21) Pre-Examination Class: Try out your examination pieces, adjudication only, any grade, any instrument /voice
22) Composition Class: Have a go at performing your own composition, any style, solo/ensemble, not exceeding 10 mins

Gillian popped into the Internet Centre today to say that the deadline for entries has been extended by a few days, and also to say thank you for everyone’s interest so far.
She did put a thankyou note into the comments section earlier, I was with her, but for some reason it vanished into the ether…never mind. Simon and Sal have searched high an lo for it…thanks for that.
