This year, Ventnor Lantern Procession is on Thursday 18th December and starts from the Youth Centre at 5.45pm.

The singing will be lead by The United Singers of Ventnor and there will be mulled wine, mince pies and Father Christmas.

Lots of lanterns need to be made and people to take part, to make the evening a real success and a lovely start to Christmas.

There are three different lantern workshops taking place this year to make your lanterns.

You will have time to complete a lantern in one session, or if you prefer, make the frame at one session and come back to another session to finish it.

If you have a lantern from last year, then you can bring it along for a make-over.

The lanterns are really good fun to make, we’ve built up a collection over the last three years and they look fabulous on the parade.

The big ones that are made by the old hands are incredible - really impressive and well worth heading out on lantern parade night to see.

Or better still - attend a workshop, make your own and join in.

Everyone is welcome to go along to the workshops, it generally takes a couple of hours to make a lantern from scratch - details of when and where they are on is in the posting above.

They cost £4 per lantern which includes a battery light.

Would definitely recommend it, great fun and the co-ordinators are very helpful and friendly.
