Ventnor Cricket Club: Results and Fixtures

Ventnor easily defeated touring Bradford Town at Steephill on Saturday. The Wiltshire visitors could only manage 108, a target the home side passed without loss, Tom Friend smashing a quick fire half century inside nine overs.
The Sunday fixture with Tri-Northerners ended in a 12 run win for Ventnor. Batting first, young Jacob George impressed with 45 in the home team’s total of 166, Rob Snell contributing 30.
In response, the London based journalists side closed on 154 to give Ventnor victory in a tight finish.

Ventnor were defeated by Brading in the quarter finals of the Outdoor sixes on Sunday, the underdogs hitting the boundary they needed from the very last ball. Ryde Cavaliers were the eventual winners of the competition, beating favourites Shanklin in the final.
Fixtures
This weekend sees old rivals Ventnor and Shanklin meet in the Roy Tiller Memorial Cup at Steephill. The match starts at 1.30pm.
The second team visit Ryde, while on Sunday Ventnor’s third team face Brading in the final of the Fred Winter Cup. The original match fell victim to the weather with Malc White’s side well placed on 78 for no wicket, chasing a total of 216. The action gets under way at noon.
Bashley are the visitors to Steephill on Sunday for an end of season friendly.
