Ventnor Boat Works: We Love It

Thursday, 26th July, 2007 at 9:28 pm, Isle of Wight

Before you think “what the hell?”, we’re not talking about the boat building factory about to be constructed on the eastern esplanade car park, but about a small boat yard in Ventnor, New Jersey, USA.

Ventnor Boat Works: We Love ItSimon came across the web site for Ventnor Boat Works, earlier this week and was wowed by the style of boats they produce.

The firm was founded in 1902 by Adolph Apel, who in a short space of time became well known as builder of the world’s fastest custom speed boats.

His son, Arno continues the business now and their boats really are ‘the business’. Take a look through their gallery and see what you think.

I am in search of any information on a 1948 23′ deluxe runabout from Ventnor. I have hull #1005. Any information will be helpful.

You may well find this Ventnor somewhere in, on, or around Lake Mahopac, NY (Putnam County). There was one Ventnor on the lake in the early years you note. Worth a shot to talk to the marina operators there and the tackle shop (sporting goods) on Main Street. Good luck, great, wonderful, and exotic boat.
