Ventnor Blue Flag Raising: David Pugh Interview (Podcast)

Monday, 16th June, 2008 at 4:23 pm, Isle of Wight

Ventnor Blue Flag Raising: David Pugh Interview (Podcast)Island Council Leader and general Boy Wonder, David Pugh, be-decked in sunshades (surely not covering any Festival excesses?!?) chatted to VB about how great he thinks Ventnor is, with its “subtropical climate, with today being no exception,” which he went on to describe as “a little community with its own sunshine spot.”

The Leader pointed out that the Blue flag is a “very prestigious award. Something [Ventnor] can talk proudly of” and is likely to give visiting families an extra degree of assurance on the beach.

As some of the Island is still stuck in it’s thinking that Ventnor is something to be pitied, it was encouraging to hear from the IW council’s leader that “Ventnor’s really going places.”

There was also some unexpected flattery for VentnorBlog which he pre-empting with “I shouldn’t really say this, but …” (why?),continuing, “All the publicity that you at VentnorBlog give to the town as well.” He finished this with “you’ve always got to be kind journalists,” which was pleasing to hear that David Pugh can see through the name Blog and understand the journalistic work put behind VB.

Close your eyes, imagine you’re sitting at Ventnor beach in the sun and have a little listen …
