Two More Demolition Applications
Friday, 3rd November, 2006 at 11:59 am, Isle of Wight
Thanks to Bubbles359 for alerting us on the forum to the Conservation Area Consent application for the meeting hall in Marlborough Road to be demolished and replaced with a three storey block of flats. This is an amazing building and I’m sure the local history society would be able to tell us about its uses over the years.
The documents were supposed to be available online from today, but having looked at the planning website, none are available yet. Let’s hope they go up soon.
Comments need to be into the Planning Department by 24th November.
Whilst we’re on the subject of planning, thanks also to Annie on the forum for highlighting another Conservation Area Consent application, this one for demolition of the Mill Bay Public House.
Knowing the feeling in town towards to proposed two six storey buildings I thought it would be worth highlighting on the blog too.
You can add comments online or in writing and again, these need to be in 24th November.

Just browsing back to 2006, I found the demolition of the Mission Hall in Marlborough Rd was up for demolition. Well it’s been gone for over a year now but all that’s left is a whole boarding up with diintergrating plywood - it’s really unsighly and must be unbearable for those living on the old Laundry site. When will something happen? As a (thankfully not adjacent) resident of Marlborough Rd I think more information should be called for.
