Isle of Wight DidgHeadRadio Festival Starts Today

The sun is shining and the sky is blue (well it is here in Ventnor anyway) so what better weather to kick off the first Isle of Wight DidgHead Radio Festival.
Calbourne Water Mill is the venue for this great little festival starting today and offer fun for all the family.
Of course, the festival will feature the best contemporary didgeridoo and acoustic music from around the world, but as well as that, you can enjoy aboriginal dancer/singer Jermaine Herbohn from the Tjapukai Cultural Park Australia and Czech Republic techno didge band KusKusKlan.
If it’s the music you’re going for, rest assured there’ll be more than just didges being blown over the weekend.

Next weekend sees the start of a very new festival take place on the Island.
Calbourne Water Mill is the tranquil setting for the very first Isle of Wight DidgHeadRadio Festival.
We’re really looking forward to popping along to this great new festival which will feature the best contemporary didgeridoo and acoustic music from around the world.

If you’ve read about the Isle of Wight DidgHead Radio Festival, you might be mistaken for thinking that it was a niche festival only for the likes of those who have a hankering after didgeridoos.
Well, you’d be wrong.
Having spoken to festival organiser Gerry Priddle, we can reveal that there will, in fact, be loads for everyone to do over the weekend, including lots for the family.

The Artist Networking Evening at Quay Arts this month features guest speaker Gerry Priddle.
Organiser of the Isle of Wight’s first Didgeridoo Festival, Gerry will be sharing some insider tips on how to go about organising a festival such as this one and give you an insight to the range of music that can be played with this simple yet complex ancient instrument.
Expect to hear about some of the world’s foremost exponents of this magical instrument.

With less than two months until the Isle of Wight DidgHeadRadio Festival we thought we’d give you a quick reminder of what’s on offer at this new festival.
Taking place at Calbourne Water Mill, the event includes a great lineup of didgeridoo solos artists as well as bands and even a didg accompanied by a human beat box (check out AirTist).
A first for the Island, this festival looks like it’ll be a really interesting addition to the growing number of music festivals taking place on the Wight.
