If you keep walking to Seaview, you may perhaps bump into an ex MP or VIP in this quaint little seaside town.
Back in town, theres a pottery cafe on Cross Street, if the craft vibe experience is up your street, a great way of bonding with your youngsters should they need entertaining. Check out the underground market in Union Street where Jeff’s records hides hidden vinyl treasures, also lots of bric-a-brac.
There are of course the more obvious things, Ryde Commodore Cinema and Bingo Hall, Ryde Arena ice skating, pavillion bowling, or you may prefer lawn bowls if real chill is your thing. What about Victorian bowls in his and her costumes for a novel afternoon?
Heading out of Ryde, real ale fans must make a trip to the Yarbridge Inn. It’s just won CAMRA pub of the year (again) for their excellent range of quality ales.
Further round the coast you’ll find Brading Roman Villa. This is a great example of how a museum should be done. Fun, engaging, well laid out and educational. Good food served at the restaurant. There’s loads of grass to go and flop out on there too, giving access to lovely views down towards the sea.
