The Studio Launch: Wight Light Orchestra and Julian Winslow

Thursday, 24th May, 2007 at 6:19 pm, Isle of Wight

Don’t forget that Saturday night sees the launch of The Studio, a new venue in Newport. Making their debut performance at the launch will be The Wight Light Orchestra.

Julian WinslowIf you haven’t already heard them on MySpace, you might be wondering The Wight Light Who? Well, they are made up of Max Brennan, Louis Soteriou, Jon McMullen, Jack Phoenix, Al Gubbins and Dave Granshaw.

It’s tipped as being an unmissable event, but if you can’t make along on Saturday, they’ll be playing at Bestival in September.

Whilst you’re enjoying the music and new surroundings, you’ll also have a chance to take a butchers at Julian Winslow’s beautiful flower prints (which have previously been displayed at the Ventnor Botanic Gardens and Joe’s in Newport). His large scale macro prints are just stunning and definitely worth the visit for them alone. This is one of my favourites, but it isn’t done any justice being displayed at this size. Go along and take a look yourselves.

  1. Bestival 2007: More Island Acts Confirmed : Ventnor Blog Says:

[...] However, I also love coming across people I’ve seen play out on the Island as well. In the list of latest confirmed acts there is plenty of local talent. Some returning to play at Bestival from previous years and others doing it for the first time. Amongst those on the list, I’m really looking forward to seeing the Wight Light Orchestra play. We missed their gig on the launch night of The Studio back in May. We heard great reviews of their performance and hope and pray that their Besti slot doesn’t clash with The Beastie Boys. [...]
