The Bees: Papa Echo Released Next Monday

Wednesday, 16th April, 2008 at 10:27 am, Isle of Wight

Papa Echo - The BeesVentnor band The Bees, will be releasing a new single next week - the first since their split from music big boys, Virgin.

They’ve teamed up with esteemed California quartet The Mother Hips and are releasing a limited edition 7″ with a screen printed sleeve.

You can order your copy in advance, and we advise you do, as limited editions tend to fly outta the door pretty quickly.

If you order online, you’ll also receive a free digital download of each song. Now that’s value.

Pre-orders should be on your doorstep on or before 22 April.

“Papa Echo” from The Bees swirls their well-known psychedelia with blazing Latin-jazz and salsa rhythms. Side AA’s “Childish Dreams” from The Mother Hips brings a fresh punch to the bands’ repertoire, “melding heady Revolver-era vocals with Zombies-esque pop.

The antique green sleeve was screen-printed in NYC with hand-drawn lettering by Hugh Miller Surratt, the resident poster artist at Michigan State University from 1970-1975, drawing posters for Miles Davis, The Byrds, Frank Zappa, and The Grateful Dead, among others.

The order line is a US site charging international postage. Since the lads live down the road I was wondering if there was another way of ordering a copy…..

It might be possible that it’ll be stocked in The Ventnorian - if The Bees have any sense it will be.
