Invent Theatre is pleased to release our first synopsis for our forthcoming production.

The Asphodel FieldsWith rehearsals now well underway we are able to provide you with an idea of what the performance will be like. Like The Bench in the Park, the play centres around an object, this time a book entitled ‘The Asphodel Fields’ but this is a story of imagination, self discovery and confused memories.

The format it takes is also different and very experimental on my part. There are, for example, no scenes, and a heavy emphasis on music, which forms a vital piece of the overall impression.

In many ways, I have written the play like a film, but with stage conventions, and with the knowledge that the audience are present and using this factor when creating emotional scenes.

A Book. A Dream. A Lifetime. From the team behind ‘The Bench in the Park’ comes a a new full length drama coming this May to Shanklin Theatre, Isle of Wight. ‘The Asphodel Fields’ is the tale of one woman’s journey of self discovery, and of her struggle to accept the past.

A tribute to sufferer’s of dementia, the play blurs reality with imagination and challenges the perception of melodrama, which traditionally was simply a play with music (a melody).

The tickets will be charged at £7.50 and £6 Concessions (under 18/ 60+) Please note, there will be no group discounts on this occasion. Tickets should be on sale a week Monday at the latest from the theatre box office.
