Technological Revolution Hits The Isle of Wight
Thursday, 1st November, 2007 at 10:12 am, Isle of Wight
Our favourite satirical website, which holds the wonderful tagline, News Before It Happens, NewsBiscuit, has once again produced a corker of a story about our fair Isle.
According to their correspondent, we will soon be able to start ‘reading about all the various things there are to do on the Isle of Wight without even leaving our screens’.
Sounds familiar, but before you jump to conclusions, it’s not VB they’re talking about, it’s the ground breaking invention called Ceefax.
Given that it’s another three years before we’re due to start receiving digital down here, I guess they’re not far off the mark.
As funny as it is, it doesn’t do much to shrug off the image that the Island is 20 years behind the rest of the country, or support the reality that the Isle of Wight is fast becoming a much sought after destination, most definitely not stuck in the 1950s.
