Winchester House is now hosting it’s very own monthly Tea Dance with High Tea.
Our first event will be held on Wednesday 15th October 2008 between 2:30pm-4:00pm.
Come along for a nice cup of Tea and a cream scone. We also have a selection of tasty sarnies on offer.
We searched across the Island for local talent and have chosen some delightful entertainment for the first Tea Dance.
You’ll need to hurry though, we only have a limited amount of tickets on sale.
If you want to come along don’t wait around for Doris to decide, why not buy her a ticket and get her to return the favour next time.
Ticket priced at £4.50 which includes your hot beverages, a yummy bite to eat and some great local entertainment.
Plus, our volunteers will serve your hot drinks so your have more time to have a good old chin wag, listen to your favourite songs, and if you feel up to the challenge- have a boogie.
Cash or cheque accepted but please be safe-don’t send us cash in the post. If your unable to pop into Winchester House ask a friendly neighbour, relative or carer to drop off the money and collect your ticket for you.
If you’ve got any questions, just give me a call, I’m happy to help.
Winchester House can be found on the Sandown Road, just before the train bridge approaching Lake.
Tickets are on sale now and can be bought directly from YMCA Winchester House, Sandown Road, Shanklin. Tel: (01983) 862441.

Whatever next! I thought the YMCA was a youth organisation. However, as an old fogie myself, I am pleased they are laying something on for the old folks. Perhaps they could introduce cribbage or, for the more active, shove ha’penny! Best I get the free bus pass out and head on down there - it sounds like a “happening” place. Any idea where the closest bus stop is?
September 24th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
Yes, there is a number 3 bus stop right outside Winchester House on opposite sides of Sandown Road. If your coming from Newport hop on the Number 2 hop off at the cemetry which is at the end of Green lane…turn right on Sandown Road walk over the bridge walk a little further down…and there we are on your left!
If your coming by car we have several parking spaces available.
We are urging people to grab their tickets in advance as this will help us know how much catering we will need to provide.
Through the ‘V’ Involved youth volunteering Scheme we are now able create, promote and run volunteering opportunities for 16-25 year olds at Winchester House.
The Tea Dance is one of our new and exciting intergenerational projects that aims to build the relationship of the older and the younger generations that live here on the Island.
We will have young volunteers that will help with the running of the event.
I’m looking forward to it!!

-For all those who know him…Dave Cannon will be our delightful entertainment for the first Tea Dance….If he turns out to be your cupa tea, we may put him on the bill for next months event.
