Swim To Bestival? It’s For Chariddy!

Friday, 2nd March, 2007 at 7:25 am, Isle of Wight

We know that ferry prices to and from the Isle of Wight are the most expensive mile for mile in Europe …

Swim To Bestival? It's For Chariddy! But SWIM TO BESTIVAL - isn’t that pushing it a bit too far? (about 6.25 miles actually)

Definitely not, say those bonkers lot at Bestival HQ who say, “what better way to arrive at Bestival than with a bracing charity swim across the Solent?”

The boys in blue(that’s the Navy) close by in case you get a bit knackered and Miguel Mantovani from The Cuban Brothers screaming encouragement into a megaphone (gawd help us!) from his rubber dinghy, you can’t fail to have an experience of a life time.

We’ll let you in on more details as we get them.

Brilliant picture! Can’t say I fancy swimming across the Solent myself, but good luck to anyone who does - make sure you dodge those ferries and cargo ships.

Not sure if I could handle feeling fish aound my legs…I’d probably set the first world record of ‘running’ accross the Solent!!! But will be with you in spirit!!! In the event of chaffing and chilling I have a large tub of goose fat if you need it. If only I tried harder in my school pool and got my 6.25 mile badge I would be well up for it. Unfortunately 10 metre doggy paddle wont get me far……… well 10 metres in fact. I do have a kayak though if that counts for anything… oh and its yellow. Swim on and train hard. xxxx
