Super Loos On The Way: Signage Up

Wednesday, 2nd July, 2008 at 4:31 pm, Isle of Wight

Good to see that the Council have stuck the sign up on the esplanade toilets, informing visitors of the planned refurb due to take place.

Hopefully this will stop the sort of comments that we’ve heard from visitors as they leave the shabby toilets. At least now, they know that next year when they return to Ventnor (of course), spanking brand new super loos will be waiting for them!

Environment, Ventnor

I look forward to the opening of our new loo, and to the installation of a high definition CCTV camera pointing directly at the front - just in case (See Brading experience)

Is this the best we can do to bring tourists back to Ventnor?

The Council seems to be obsessed with public loos as the cornerstone of its tourism plan. No wonder the Chamber of Commerce is complaining about a fall in tourists.

I understand that the delay in getting the esplanade loos sorted was due to the uncertainty of when work would start on the Cheetah Marine development. I take your point completely EG, we’ve got a lot more to offer the tourist than loos, but no-one can deny that these particular ones need a face lift!

I wonder if there is a plan for rebuilding the public loos? I would say the ones in Sandown- Shanklin should be the priority as the cornerstone of our tourism economy. Had to use the one in St John’s Road Sandown recently, describing it as bad does it justice.
