Super Loos: Not Yet, But Let The Public Know They’re Coming

Monday, 12th May, 2008 at 3:50 pm, Isle of Wight

Super Loos for VentnorIf you’ve just read the notes from last Monday’s Town Council meeting, you might have seen the reference by Val Taylor to the fact that the Eastern Esplanade toilets will be servicing the public in their current state for yet another summer.

It is very unfortunate that the toilets are going to remain in their current state over the summer, but given that we have this information, wouldn’t it be a good idea for the Town Council to have a board made up with the drawings of what the toilets will look like by next summer and have this displayed outside?

This would give residents who haven’t seen the plans and visitors to town this summer an idea of what is planned. If we’re able to get to the Town Council meeting tonight in time, we’ll ask during public questions.

And they’re not going to be any old loos, they’ll be Super loos!

Brilliant idea - knowing something is going to happen at some point leaves people with a better impression than just seeing the disgraceful state of the toilets as they are now. It’s so embarrassing to see visitor’s reactions when they come out.

  2. Geoff Says:

Totally agree with Maggie that showing how it will be is far better than nothing!

Good news aboutthe loos but I hope they remember to replace the loo rolls more frequently this summer

  5. Caz Says:

Actually, I find it really funny that they have just been painted and on the day the job was being finished the council put up the sign!!! Now how much does it cost to paint a public loo?

  6. Sal Says:
The paint job was suggested as an interim measure - well worth sprucing them a little in the meantime for the sake of summer visitors, but you raise a good point. I wonder how much they were charged for it - given the incrediable breakdown of the skate park costs they proposed to the VTC a few months ago.
