With the sun shining and the beautiful blue skies today, we’re reminded that it’s not long until Skandia Cowes Week returns to Cowes.

Skandia Cowes WeekIt’s expected that there’ll be around 100,000 visitors on the Wight for the event which is not only those taking part, but others wanting to come along and soak up the atmosphere.

We’ll be bringing you updates as we get them, but in the meantime, you might want to put a couple of dates in your diary to avoid being double booked.

Thursday 7th sees Ladies Day return to Cowes Week. SWponsored by Liz Earle, It’s purpose is to celebrate women’s achievements in sailing and has managed to attract some well-known TV and sports personalities including Davina McCall and our own daughter of the Island, Dame Ellen MacArthur.

Last year’s winner was of course, Gavia Wilkinson-Cox.

If you fancy having having a go yourself at sailing, there will be free sessions on the Cowes seafront which will be followed later by live bands and the spectacular fireworks display on the Friday night.

As we say, we’ll be bringing you more info in due course. If you have any memories from previous Cowes Week events that you’d like to share with our readers, do get in touch.
