Get your babysitters booked, order your taxis and get your most outlandish outfits prepared, because The Shanklin Freak Show will be returning to Ryde Theatre in a couple of weeks time and they are promising another mind-blowing show.
Winners of the Bestival Band Comp come back to Ryde, for what they say might be their last big show at the theatre (with the threat of closure hanging over it) and they’ve organised great splendour and extravagance for their adoring audience.
In a return to the theatre (he played at the SFS Album launch back in February), all the way from Portsmouth will be Joe Black - bringing with him his debut album and own style of humour.
Joining the lineup will be Opal Room who played last weekend at the Ventnor Skate Park fundraiser gig at The Rose Inn in Ventnor. They describe their sound as progressive metal with a more ambient side, also a sprinkling of dance music, with a hint of Drum ‘N’ Bass with the melodic guitars, thundering rhythm section and unique vocals.
Also joining the line-up will be .
Finally all the way from London and braving the ferry fares will be Global Citizen. Masters of the scene, expect the very best in Industrial Electronica for this trio.
Tickets for this incredible lineup are just £3 - yes folks you heard it right, £3.
This gig is part of the Making Waves series and will be recorded by Glynn Taylor for IW Radio for later broadcast, along with interviews with the bands. Listen out Sunday evenings on 102/7gm between 7-10pm.

£3 I don’t believe it!
Shanklin Freak Show are back at the Venue 14th Aug 7PM with an even bigger night for us. Looking at what’s happening and the talent supporting SFS, I would have paid £15 for the night. They will be bringing all-sorts with them. Opal Room will be playing (a progressive/Ambient/Drum n Bass style) these are definitely worth a visit, Global Citizen will be joining them (an Industrial/Dark-wave/Goth/Moody style) very exciting stuff, if that’s not enough, Joe Black will be back with his impressive (Goth/Theatrical style). If you know SFS or have seen the other bands, you will know it will be an exciting/adrenaline pumping full-on night. This alone is more than we deserve for £3 but joining all this will be their usual mime artists, glitter, strobes, smoke machines, jugglers, fire-breathing, stilt-walkers, evil clowns and but bigger (keep-it-quiet but even jesus (Mr Nick Painless) might make an appearance. Bring some dosh as Mr Strange will be selling his very limited edition of his solo album. If you enjoy music outside of the top 30 and are looking for something exciting, then do not miss this (likely to be a one off night) especially if the Venue at Ryde is left to haemorrhage any more by its owners.
