Schools Shakeup Demo Friday Noon
Thursday, 13th September, 2007 at 1:12 pm, Isle of Wight
Following last nights meeting at St George’s in Newport, called by unions in protest of the proposed changes to move year nine to middle schools, resulting in the possible closure of at least one high school, members of the Fat Samba band have planned a demo in Newport tomorrow.
They will be convening outside County Hall from noon on Friday, at the same time that a meeting will be held inside concerning the schools proposal. They encourage as many people as possible to go along and join in the demo, as they feel that the council are not listening to public opinion.
The IW Council were invited to the meeting last night, but no-one turned up. There were over three hundred people at the meeting and the consensus of disapproval of the scheme was overwhelming.
If you can make it along, show your support from noon tomorrow.
