Schools Petition To Force Inquiry

Tuesday, 19th February, 2008 at 12:05 pm, Isle of Wight

A new petition came to our attention yesterday that may be of interest to some of our readers.

This is not a petition to save any particular school, but rather, to force an inquiry into the way the consultation has been carried out.

The author of the petition believes that the consultative questionnaire has not allowed debate for all possibilities, and is asking others to sign the petition if they agree.

The petition requests that the Prime Minister conduct a review of the Isle of Wight Council’s proposals for education reform, with a view to allowing standards to be raised within the existing system of education.

One Response to “Schools Petition To Force Inquiry”

  1. Jo Lambley (ne Crossley) Says:

I am a former resident of Wroxall and returned there yesterday to visit my mother’s grave. I was sorry to hear the news of the possible closure of the school. My mother was county councillor for Wroxall in the mid eighties amd fought long and hard to keep a school in the village. The new scholl created a new heart and its closure will severely affect the village. Parents now day look for the school before moving into an area, no school no growth.
I don’t suppose there is anything I can do but I am a writer and my pen is at your service.
