Save Our Schools Newport Demo: Vox Pops #3
Thursday, 31st January, 2008 at 11:38 am, Isle of Wight
Next up, another two vox pops we gathered from the crowds of protesters at the rally to Save Our Schools which tok place last Saturday in Newport.
The rally was organised by Alex Dyke, who has since had Alan Wells, David Pugh and Steve Beynon on the phone-in.
We gather that there will be a dedicated schools phone-in every week between now and the end of the consultation period - which is 22 February.
We simply asked “What do the proposals mean to you?”

The point about improvement at GCSE is valid. Eg Medina’s GCSE results improved by 16 per cent year on year in 2007. That’s massive. And Carisbrooke’s rose to within 1 per cent of the England average. You can check out the stats here (copy & paste if this doesn’t show as an automatic link):

And though the formal tables for KS3 2007 aren’t out, the provisional results, including pupils who took the tests a year early at middle school, were discussed here:
