Save Our Schools: March in Silence

Friday, 8th February, 2008 at 3:40 pm, Isle of Wight

Save Our Schools March: ShanklinDon’t forget that there is a Save Our Schools march planned for 2.30pm in Shanklin tomorrow. Read below for new information regarding marching in silence.

Organisers have asked that anyone hoping to attend take banners and placards if they can.

Assemble in the car park of Shanklin Train Station from 2pm, the march will depart at 2.30pm, heading along Regent Street - which is the main thoroughfare and shopping area - encircling the Conservative Club, returning along the same route and briefly stopping off via Clarendon Road, finishing at the Train Station.

According to the Save Our Schools website, orgaisers are suggesting that part of the march be carried out in silence.

The march will be started by an announcement from the Town Crier, and we shall then proceed silently along Regent Street until we have encircled the Conservative Club.

At which point, following a second announcement from the crier, you are invited to chant SOS slogans as you please for the return portion of the march, until we finally reach our starting point at Shanklin Station.

Please wear black or a black arm band (ideal for children in uniform, as we still need to see those).

Education, Shanklin
