Round The Island By Boat And Bike?
Monday, 4th February, 2008 at 4:06 pm, Isle of Wight
We see on the Motor Boat and Yachting website today that a new event called the Great Island Challenge is planned for later this year, taking place around and on the Wight.
It’s all in aid of Seafarers UK, the national charity that through fundraising, gives grants to over seventy charities that help people who have worked at sea. A worthy cause you’ll all agree.
They are inviting people to take part in a challenge which entails learning to crew a yacht and help take it around the Island, before jumping on their bikers for a 62-mile coastline bike ride.
Lee Dobbins, of Seafarers UK, said: “This is a unique challenge and excellent opportunity to explore and conquer the great Isle of Wight from both sea and land.”
