RiverFest 2008
Friday, 2nd May, 2008 at 4:31 pm, Isle of Wight
| 3, May 2008 |
Tomorrow sees the launch of the very first RiverFest.
It takes place in Newport by the quayside and surrounding river area.
There are tons of activities taking place over the day including a six mile river walk, street theatre, stilt walkers and fire show (with the amazing Matt Splatt) and even a mini beast safari.
There’ll be a walking festival marquee where you can learn all about the activities of the walking festival and Alan Titchmarsh will be launching the walking festival from the quayside at noon.
There are also trips on the Monach paddle steamer (£5 per trip), which should be an absolute treat if the weather is anything like it is today.
If you don’t fancy the steamer, there are dinghy trips up the Medina for tea and biscuits, displays in the Harbour Masters Office, water and mud sampling with eco challenger and IW Wildlife Trust wodcraft activities taking place at the Quayside.
As well as all that and more, you can enjoy a latino feast or vintage ice cream whilst perusing the farmers market.
It all kicks off at 10am and runs throughout the day.
Check the Island 2000 website for programme details and more info.
