Richard Studt Ticket Competition Winner
Tuesday, 29th April, 2008 at 11:07 am, Isle of Wight
Many thanks to everyone who entered the competition to win a pair of tickets to The Ventnor Recital taking place this Saturday night.
The answer to the question …
“Where did composer Edward Elgar stay when he visited Ventnor in 1889 for his honeymoon?”
… was of course, Bermuda House, 3 Alexandra Gardens, which was featured on the Blog last year when the Blue Plaque was unveiled.
All entries went into a hat and L Pinkerton is the lucky recipient of two tickets for the event which are worth 60 pounds.
Many thanks to Anthony Churchill for donating the tickets. We’ll be bringing you more information regarding the recital over the coming days.
Tickets are still available for the evening performance which includes two hours of music and a finger buffet.

That’s a bit patronising, isn’t it applebanana? There’s lots of reasons for blue plaques in Ventnor which has many connections with famous people (Karl Marx, Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill and Mahatma Gandhi to name four more).
Why should Ventnor be a backwater that doesn’t have them but gleaming Southwark does???
