Remembrance Sunday Memorial Service

Wednesday, 7th November, 2007 at 3:04 pm, Isle of Wight

A Service of Remembrance will take place at St Thomas’ Church in Newport on Sunday 11 November. There will also be similar ceremonies at the same time in several Island towns.

HM Lord-Lieutenant Major General Martin White, the High Sheriff Lt Col David Langford, Chairman of Isle of Wight Council - Cllr Roger Mazillius, and members of the Newport branch of the Royal British Legion will attend the ceremony and church service conducted by the Vicar of Newport. Members and directors of the Isle of Wight Council will also be attending. The Service will be preceded by the laying of wreaths in St Thomas’ Square following the 2 minutes silence at 11.00am.

    What time please is the service at Newport???

    Is there one at Ventnor?? What time please?

    I think from reading the text that the service is just after the 2 mins silence. Sorry, we’ve not received any details about other services around the Island.

    Hi Jennie,

    According to the Chronicle, the Ventnor service is at 3.00 pm St Catherines Church, Ventnor. The service moves from there to the War Memorial in Ventnor Park.
