Powerboat P1 Cowes: Petrol or Diesel?
Friday, 24th August, 2007 at 4:28 pm, Isle of Wight
Some of the P1 Powerboats run on diesel and others go for petrol.
The current championship leader has two 11.3ltr turbo-charged diesel engines providing an impressive 1760 hp and one of the challengers, King of Shaves, plums for petrol, with two 8.3ltr V10 giving 1250 hp.
Either way, there’s a ton of fuel being thrown through these engines.
Listening to the whys and wherefores as to the choice between petrol and diesel give, I suspect a pretty deep insight in to the sport. Those who say petrol, do it with pride, stating that it the sound of the engine that’s the most important.
