Pick Of The VB Week

Monday, 22nd October, 2007 at 11:53 am, Isle of Wight

School holidays are upon us, and if you haven’t made any plans yet to take the kids out, it’s worth checking the info sent through from the tourist board. They’ve lots of ideas of what to do to keep the nippers happy this half term.

Half Term Fun On The Isle of WightLast week saw the announcement of nominations for Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for Excellence, featuring well known names from across the Island, including the excellent Liz Earle.

If you missed the podcast of our chat with Asa Singleton, put your feet up for five minutes and hear about his time at Bestival, and how he got to meet his musical heroes, The Beastie Boys.

On the 20th anniversary of the great storms, VB chum, Ced Wells shared his experience of that night 20 years ago. It’s a touching story and we’re sure would’ve brought back many memories for our readers. If you have memories of that night that you’d like to share, get in touch.

The launch on Friday of a new night at Coast in Newport was a great success. The organisers created a cosy and intimate space to enjoy brilliant tapas and catch up with friends. You can try it out yourselves every Friday and Saturday night.

Finally, don’t forget this Saturday night sees the first Zombie march take place in Ryde. Better order in your supplies of fake blood now, because this one is going to be popular. Rumour has it a film director on the Island will be there with camera in hand.
