PARISH ELECTIONS TO TAKE PLACE ON 1ST MAY
Monday, 28th April, 2008 at 2:45 pm, Isle of Wight
RESIDENTS in Ryde and Newport are being urged to vote for members of their newly created parish councils this week.
All registered local government electors in these areas will, in the wards where the election is contested, have by now received a Poll Card advising them of the date and time of the election, along with details of their local polling station.
The election itself will take place from 7:00am to 10:00pm on Thursday 1st May 2008 in these areas, and the Count will be conducted the following morning, commencing at 10:00am in the Medina Leisure Centre.
Polls will not be taking place in Northwood and Whippingham parish councils as the elections there were not contested.
Only four wards in Ryde - Ashey, Binstead, Ryde North West and St Johns West - are being contested. The Pan ward is uncontested in Newport.
A full list of the contested wards and candidates, as well as the uncontested results is attached.
