If you want to watch the handover of the Olympics from Beijing to Great Britain, make sure you head over to the Needles this Sunday afternoon, as it takes place right here on the Isle of Wight.
To mark the occasion, a young crew of Island sailors will sail to the Needles and at 3.30pm raise an enormous spinnaker carrying the London 2012 Olympic logo.
Once the spinnaker has been hoisted, the crew will sail to Cowes where they’ll be greeted by the samba band, Leader of the Council, David Pugh, Chairman of the Island Games Committee David Ball and Olympic 2000 gold medal winner for rowing, Louis Attrill.
With the predicted fantastic weather, this’ll be a photographers dream come true.

Is it really too late to ditch that hideous logo? There were some excellent designs posted on the BBC website immediately after the official one was released…
