OFFICIAL OPENING OF COWES CHILDREN CENTRE
Monday, 28th April, 2008 at 11:36 am, Isle of Wight
A new facility that will provide support for families with children under the age of 5 is being officially opened on 1 May.
Cowes Children Centre is based at Love Lane Primary School and features modern facilities and a range of services that will benefit the local community. The building features a playroom and parents room, modern kitchen, office space and an outside play area.
The centre won’t only benefit children, but also parents through a range of sessions and workshops. Amongst these are support with stopping smoking, childminder drop-in sessions, parenting support groups, first aid courses and cooking on a budget.
An open day is being held at the centre on Thursday 1 May with an official opening ceremony taking place at 1400. Anyone interested in finding out more about the facility and the services available can speak to staff.
Isle of Wight Council Cabinet member for Children and Young People Alan Wells said “Coming from the Cowes area myself, I know this great facility will provide first class services to the town and surrounding areas. The council wants the Island’s children to have access to top facilities and by opening the new Cowes Children Centre contributes to that commitment.
