Noah’s Ark Goes Plastic Bag Free
Monday, 4th February, 2008 at 3:57 pm, Isle of Wight
Thanks to Mark for sending through this photo of the blackboard outside Noah’s Ark.
In case you can’t read Steve’s writing on the blackboard, it states that as of 1st Feb his shops (the pet store and the greengrocer) will no longer be supplying plastic bags, but instead, will be offering cornstarch bags at a cost of 5p each.
Steve commented on the forum over the weekend that he’s been amazed by how Ventnor residents had embraced the drive to go plastic bag free.
Well done also, to those at IW Council who have supplied (via Mark) 100s of heavy duty recycling carriers.
We’ve found that these bags can be put to many uses. Not only with large shopping trips, but also shifting wood from the woodshed to the woodburner and they are even strong enough to carry an excited 7 year old around the house.
Here’s what Steve had to say about Ventnor’s Move to go plastic carrier bag free
It´s been really great to see so many customers no longer using polythene carrier bags over the last week or two. I reckon that over half of our greengrocery customers use jute, baskets or other non polythene and long lasting bags.
