Nathan Gets Nicked by Isle of Wight Council

Wednesday, 30th July, 2008 at 6:02 pm, Isle of Wight

Nathan HoltOur eyes rolled to the ceiling when we happened to read through some of the latest press releases from the Council this morning. We did think twice about whether we have a friendly dig at ‘our mates’ at the Press Office, but given how they’ve treated us, we promptly decided “what the heck!”

The first release in question, highlights the great work that has taken place at the Ventnor Youth Centre in Victoria Street, praising the bright and eye catching mural that now adorns the back wall of the building.

What’s wrong with that you ask? Well, first of all, we reported this news about a month ago (just after it was completed, natch), so it’s good to see that they’re right on top of things, isn’t it? They also report it was completed this month, which isn’t the case.

Secondly, and probably more importantly, it would’ve been great for the press office to have got the name of the artist correct.

What’s my name?
Anyone who knows the project, when reading the press release on the Council Website, might have been wondering who on earth is Nick Holt?

The artist in question, as mentioned many times on VB before, is, of course, the artist formerly known as Nathan Holt (pictured). We’ve checked around, just in case his real name is Nick but he prefers Nathan, but the consensus has been, Nathan, Nath or IAM8 - but definitely not Nick!

Nathan is also responsible for the fab public artwork in East Cowes (sponsored by Island 2000) and is just completing a large enamel artwork (sponsored by Island 2000 and A J Wells) which will find a new home in Sandown - subject to planning permission.

Coming soon
Oh, by the way, if you’re wondering what the situation is with our current Council ban by ‘Head of Communications’, Claire Robertson, keep your eyes peeled as we’ve got the next instalment coming shortly.

Is this the same Nick Holt who’s in that popular-beat-combo Bonk Boots with Elron Fulcher of that other popular-beat-combo The Bumbles?
