Michael Poland: Shortlisted For RSPB Nature of Farming Award

Thursday, 25th September, 2008 at 9:53 am, Isle of Wight

Michael Poland: Shortlisted For RSPB Nature of Farming AwardYou have just two days (by end of tomorrow) left to cast your vote in the RSPB Nature of Farming Award.

From the hundreds of entries, making it on the shortlist of four, is Michael Poland from Wroxall Cross Farm.

One of the reasons that Michael has been selected, is due to the development of a grazing regime which allows species such as Dartford warbler and nightjar to flourish.

The shortlist report states ….

The farm is a fine example of how conservation can be integrated into commercial farming, and how livestock selection and management can be used as a conservation tool. Both Michael and the farm manager are extremely ambitious and passionate about their animals and the role they play in the farming system. Due to their passion and knowledge, they and the farm are a great example of the successful integration of conservation and farming.

Your vote will count and if successful, Michael may be flying the flag for the Isle of Wight and the South East. We wish him the best of luck.
