Making Waves Gets Off The Ground

Friday, 7th March, 2008 at 3:17 pm, Isle of Wight

Making WavesGreat news reaches us today that The Making Waves project is back on the cards. It was all looking a little bit touch and go for a while there, but we’re pleased to say that IW Council has finally made the commitment to support this not-for-profit orientated project to promote and support Island bands.

The first gig takes place at the beginning of April and the schedule (below) runs all through the summer up until just before Bestival.

It is being run in conjunction with IW Radio and each week you’ll be able to see 3-4 bands play live, whilst being recorded for the IW Radio Live and Local Show. Band members will also be interviewed with the results broadcast on Sunday nights between 7-10pm on 102 or 107fm.

There are loads of dates scheduled for the next few months, so stick these in your diary and we’ll let you know as soon as we get word on the lineups.

April - 3/10/17/24
May - 1/8/15/22/29
June - 26
July - 10/17/24/31
August - 7/14/21
September - 4

It’ll only cost you £3 to get in and 14-16 year olds are also welcome, so long as they come with a responsible.

Ryde, Music

Great news; glad to see Rick back where he belongs and a big thank you to IW Radio for this commitment
All we need now is for the Venue to put these dates up with a list of bands.
