Jim Mullen Organ Trio

Wednesday, 20th February, 2008 at 3:07 pm, Isle of Wight

14, March 2008
8:00 pm

The March Jazz Café at Quay Arts on Friday 14th features a very influential figure from the European jazz scene, Jim Mullen with Mike Gorman on organ and Matt Skelton on drums.

JimMullenPerhaps best known for his long and fruitful association with the late Dick Morrissey, Jim Mullen is the first choice guitarist for many visiting Americans, having performed regularly with Jimmy Smith, Mose Allison, Gene Harris and Terry Callier, to name but a few.

Jim’s trio brings together his own elemental guitar with the organ of Mike Gorman and the drums of Matt Skelton.

‘The classic line-up of organ, guitar and drums. It’s the perfect setting for Mullen’s mellow, soulful guitar and his legendary fluency. He and organist Mike Gorman have evolved a whole new vocabulary, while drummer Matt Skelton supports it all with the lightest of touches.’ Dave Gelly, The Observer
