Here’s one gig you should definitely make to effort to go today.

Protect the Beat (with Derek Nash)Anyone who saw Derek Nash play with Sax Appeal at the Rookley Jazz Club back in January, will be interested to hear that he’s back on the Wight this weekend and heading up a gig at the Ventnor Winter Gardens later today.

Nash will be bringing his own inimitable style to the Isle of Wight International Jazz Festival as he performs alongside Winston Blissett on bass (Massive Attack, Jeff Lorber) Tim Cansfield on guitar (Steve Winwood, Annie Lennox, Ray Charles), the incredible Arden Hart on keyboard and trumpet (Bootsy Collins, Massive Attack) and Darby Todd on percussion (Dennis Rollins, Disney’s Lion king).

As you can see, the band have played with an interesting mix of musicians and this definitely comes out in the delivery. Derek Nash is an inspiring man to watch and brilliant sax player.

This is definitely one not to miss.
