IWEP Touchdown Lounge: Peter Cowen (podcast)
Thursday, 10th July, 2008 at 1:06 pm, Isle of Wight
Last week we popped down to the Innovation Centre in Newport to see the launch of the new Touchdown Lounge.
One feature of the lounge is free WIFI which is being provided by BT for the first six months.
We caught up with Peter Cowen, who is Partnerships Director for BT in the South East.
He explained that this project was part of a region wide programme with SEEDA, intended to encourage flexible working.
Apparently the Isle of Wight is the first in the network, and this format will be replicated in each of nine counties in South East.
On the back of this project, Peter explained that BT are working with Age Concern to bring 43 new WIFI hotspots to the Wight.
He told us that once the programme is complete, you should never be more than 5 miles or 10 mins drive away from BT wireless touchpoints.
Listen to the brief chat we had with Peter …
The Lounge is has been jointly funded by Toshiba, BT and the SEEDA Corporate Cabinet.
