IW Walking Festival: Tennyson Trail Walk
Wednesday, 14th May, 2008 at 4:05 pm, Isle of Wight
Many thanks to Chris Jarman for sending through photos and a short review of a walk he took part on a couple of weeks ago. Ed
On the 4th May Elizabeth Hutchings and I escorted a group on the Tennyson Trail walk as part of the IOW Walking Festival.
“A walk full of literary and artistic interest. Taking in the birthplace of Sir Vivien Fuchs and the homes of Tennyson and Julia Margaret Cameron.”
The first photo was taken at the start of the walk over Freshwater Bay with some grand views beyond.
The second was taken in the grounds of the Farringford Hotel where the walkers made one of many stops to hear recitals of Tennyson.
The walk finished at Tennyson’s monument on the top of the downs.
All donations received were passed on to the appeal to replace the thatched roof of St Agnes Church at Freshwater Bay.
